Minutes 22nd September

WELTON LE MARSH PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY MEETING

HELD 22nd September 2026

Present:  Cllrs Williams (Chair); Tong; Crome, Hardcastle & Holiday

Mrs J. Cooper (Parish Clerk)

7 Members of the public

During the public session it was reported that the footpath on Gunby Road was becoming blocked in places by overhanging hedges and trees.  Clerk to report.

Concerns were raised at the current system of locking the outer door to the village hall with key access from the key safe which meant the toilet therein could not be used following church services.  It was explained that it was an insurance requirement that the key be kept in the key safe, and that the code be changed on a regular basis.  It was also explained that this was a village hall matter rather than a parish council matter.

Thanks were expressed to Cllr Tong who had gained grant money for the village hall, which could be used towards new furniture.

A question was raised as to whether the Parish Council could write to the Lincolnshire Mayor suggesting a tax be levied on caravans on the coast.  It was felt that this was not within the remit of the Parish Council.

42          DEFIBRILLATOR

Cllr Williams had spoken to the owners of the Wheel Inn, where the village defibrillator is sited and which is currently for sale.  The owners stated verbally that if the premises sold and the new owner did not want the defibrillator to be sited there, then they would cover the cost of relocating the unit.  It was therefore proposed that, if this could be obtained in writing, that the defibrillator remain at the Wheel Inn until such time as the premises were sold, subject to any new owner not wanting to keep the unit.  This was resolved.
