Platinum Jubilee

Welton le Marsh (Nr Spilsby) Lincolnshire – Jubilee Celebratioins

Street Party Sunday 5th June

Was a great day despite weather being cold but dry. Was an excellent turn out for such a small village, at the peak around sixty people attended with an estimate of 90 to 100 through out the day. The pork roast supplied by and catered for by Nick Bradley went down very well and needed a second supply of baps after the first 75 went quickly. There was a vast array of cakes/cookies & biscuits all supplied by villagers and one of our most recent settlers provided a lovely curry with rice.

In the village hall there was a tombola which raised £100 which will be split between three charities, Air Ambulance, village hall and church.

The highlight for many was the meeting of the older residents and the newer incomers being able to get together and enjoy stories and tales of years gone by.  In fact many have said we should do it every year, so may be we shall have a look at holding a similar event later on in the summer of each year and keep the village community alive.

Event finished at around 17:00 and Sue & Nick at Wheel Inn PH arrange a free barbecue for 18:00 which many attended, nice the see the pub busy and alive with chatter..

Walking

Time to get walking again!

At this time of year we start to think about the mud drying up and getting out to walk in the beautiful English Countryside again, but where to find new and interesting walks?

Walking in Lincolnshire https://www.walkinginengland.co.uk/lincs has hundreds of walks to download and print, free, it also has books of walks, details of all the walking groups in the county and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group all the information is there in one place.

John Harris (the custodian of the website) said ‘There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Lincolnshire (part of the Walking in England website) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

So home or away, check out the websites and get walking!
