Minutes of the ordinary meeting held 23rd Deember 2025

Present: Cllrs Williams (Chair); Tong ; Hardcastle,  & Crome

During the public session an update on the works and grant situation for the Village Hall was given, the grant money had been received, new doors installed, electrics to be upgraded and new cooker ordered.  Assistance might be required to remove the old kitchen units.  New sofas had been purchased.

 

67          APOLOGIES

                Apologies and valid reasons for absence were received from Cllrs  S. Faulkner-Smith; J. Faulkner-Smith and Holiday and these were accepted.

68          DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

                There were none

69          MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 11TH NOVEMBER 2025

                It was resolved that the Chairman sign these as a correct record.

70          UPDATES FROM THAT MEETING

                Minute 61 – Letter had been sent to Charity Commission advising that the Council, as Trustees, had agreed amended wording to the aims of the charity.

                Minutes 63 – Two Christmas trees had been purchased and installed by Cllr Holiday.

                Broadband was now installed in the village hall.

                There was none

72          FINANCE

                a)           Accounts for payment

                It was resolved that the following accounts be paid:        

                Clerks salary and PAYE (December)                                                £175.11

                Members authorised the Clerk to pay the invoice for the two Christmas trees when received – in the region of £30.

                Members noted the receipt of the grant money and its payment to the Village Hall.

                b)           Allotment Rents 2026 – It was agreed to defer this to the next meeting.

                c)           Budget/Precept for 2026 2027

                After discussion on various budget heads, and the need to be prudent and consider additional costs relating to the Village Hall it was resolved to keep the precept at the current 25 level of £5661.

73          PLANNING

                There were no applications or decisions to note.

 

 

74          ANY OTHER MATTERS/NEXT AGENDA

                Cllr Tong gave a brief update on the recent meeting of the Village Hall committee – will be looking at the lease for the Village Hall.

                Cllr Eyre advised that he still had some Councillor grant money.

75          DATES FOR NEXT THREE MEETINGS

                These were agreed at 3rd February; 24th March and 12th May (Annual Council Meeting; Annual Public Meeting and Annual General Meeting of Poor Land Trustees.

76          DATE OF NEXT MEETING

                This was confirmed at 3rd February.

 

There being no further business the meeting closed at 7.35 with the Chairman wishing all a Merry Christmas and Happy new Year.
